We attended worship service this morning in a beautiful, peaceful outdoor setting. At least twice each year, once in the spring and once in the fall, our church holds worship service outdoors. A couple who are members of the church has a beautiful property that borders a river. It’s a favorite spot for outdoor weddings. The owners invite our church family to use the facilities for these very special worship experiences.
In such beautiful surroundings, one immediately feels the presence of the Lord as His handiwork is all around. The soothing sound of rustling the leaves in the surrounding trees and the gentle whisper of the flowing river create a sense of inner peace. We sing old-time hymns like “Shall We Gather at the River” and “Down by the Riverside” while sitting on wooden benches under a stand of trees. The entire worship experience is very moving.
After the worship service, we enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch. There was also a Sunday School kick-off event, carnival booths with games and activities for the young and old. Worship, food, fun and fellowship; a perfect almost Fall Sunday.
