Table linens often drive the direction I take when planning a tablescape. I have several sets of Christmas table linens, so there were a number of possibilities I considered for our table this year. I ultimately decided to create a rustic, woodland tablescape that seemed to coordinate well with the decorations in our main living area and with the look and feel of our Birds, Berries, and Bows Christmas tree.
This tablecloth is one of my favorites, Kincaid Plaid from Pottery Barn (purchased three years ago.) This is mixed with napkins purchased last fall at Steinmart which express the woodland theme simply and elegantly. I used a simple fold that highlights the bird and pine branch atop ironstone plates. A plain stainless flatware pattern and stemmed water goblet kept the tablesetting casual.
A touch of whimsy was added with the hand-painted snowmen wine glasses. These glasses were a gift from our former Florida neighbor about five years ago. I’ve enjoyed using them every year since.
Our holiday centerpiece was described in an earlier post. You can read about it here.
This table was casual, rustic, and elegant. It matched our casual, rustic, woodland Christmas style this year.
